Past President's Remarks
April 2015, Tonia Crook
Greetings Everyone,
As the newly elected President of the NCSH I would like to take the opportunity to let everyone know how excited I am to serve as your President for the next two years. I am looking forward to working with the Officers, Board of Directors and membership to do everything possible to promote our society. I would like to see an increase in our membership and any membership ideas are much appreciated. Do not underestimate the word of mouth. Invite your friends and colleagues to join. This is our professional society and there is strength in numbers.
Volunteers are key to NCSH success so do not be surprised if you are contacted and asked to help serve on a committee and/or volunteer in some capacity. We are only as strong as our members. This is your society and make sure your voice is heard and your presence is known. The business meeting is a forum to be heard. The business meeting is held annually at the Saturday luncheon during the Spring Meeting. The meeting minutes will be posted on the website moving forward to give the membership access to society business. It will be uploaded in the membership only section of the website.
NCSH currently has several positions that need to be filled as soon as possible. The Vendor Coordinator position is open with my election to President. If you are interested in volunteering or have any other suggestions or concerns please contact me or any of the other Officers.
We are in the process of updating the website. Please forward any job listings or suggestions for the website to me, and the NCSH Webmaster, Bill Beckman for consideration. I would also like to call for articles for the Newsletter so we can expand by adding some academic information. It can be clinical, veterinary or research related as NCSH serves a board range of Histology disciplines and we would like to reach out to all areas.
Thanks to everyone who helped coordinate, volunteered and attended the NCSH Spring Meeting. The attendance was 100 + and we had 21 vendors. It was a great success; a success that would not be possible without our Vendors. Their sponsorship and participation allows NCSH to have the meeting and we greatly appreciate all of their efforts and support.
I would like to congratulate the NCSH awards winners; Histologist of the Year: Laura Shewmon-‐Miller; Lifetime Achievement: Bill Beckman; Lyle Baker Scholarship; Samantha Golden.
Thanks for being a part of NCSH!!!! Respectfully Yours,
Tonia Crook, NCSH President.
April 2015, Delorise Williams
Thank you so much for allowing me to serve as your President. It has been rewarding to me because I feel I have been able to play a part in leading NCSH and Histotechnology as a whole further along in educational gains and recognition. Under my leadership we were able to establish a website and electronic payments. We have a great team of Officers and Board of Directors, with our collaborative efforts, enabled us to have joint meetings with South Carolina and NSH. I will continue to work with the society to promote growth, professional recognition and to ensure our success. I believe we are in good hands with our new officers and wish them all the best. I was very happy to end my term with NCSH with such a successful Spring Meeting.
